President Dr. Marie Bowe- Quick, Ed.D.
BMWMWA of DC and Vicinity supporting Pastor L. K. Floyd's Inauguration as President, Baptist Missionary Ministers' Conference
Our Purpose:
“We promise to strengthen the bonds of friendship; strive towards a wholesome, harmonious, sympathetic, and sisterly relationship among ministers’ wives and widows everywhere, and to practice and uphold the great Christian principles given by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Our Theme: "Faithful Women Serving and Uplifting the Kingdom of God".
Scripture reference: Luke 8:1-3, "After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, 2 and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; 3 Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means."
Welcome to Our New Officers!
What a wonderful time we had at the Installation Service for the BMWMWA 2017-2019 Officers! The service was held before an enthusiastic crowd of well-wishers on Friday evening, September 15, 2017, at Vermont Avenue Baptist Church in Washington DC, after an awesome Opening Reception for BMWMWA members, along with their spouses and family members.
The color for this administration is KELLY GREEN representing growth and fruitfulness. The theme is: "Faithful Women Serving and Uplifting the Kingdom of God". Scripture: Luke 8:1-3, "After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Chuza, the manager of Herod’s household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means."
Reverend Joann Talley served as Worship Leader for the installation service and Interim Pastor Isaac Fox welcomed attendees to the service. A host of dignitaries were present to welcome the new administration of officers and to offer support for the BMWMWA service projects. Greeters included representatives from the DC Mayor Muriel Bowser's Office, District of Columbia's Ward 4 City Councilman Brandon Todd's office, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority's XI Sigma Omega Chapter, Mitchellville Drifters. Inc., Kiwanis International Capital District, and Stoddard Baptist Home Foundation. Mrs. Glenda Boston represented and brought greetings from the DC State Association of Ministers' Wives and Widows.
After Reverend Wayne B. Quick issued the charge to all incoming officers and conducted the actual swearing-in installation, Executive Board Chair Sherl Streeter handed the Presidential gavel to the newly installed 42nd President Deaconess Dr. Marie Bowe-Quick. (See picture on the left.) BMWMWA President Dr. Marie Bowe-Quick's Installation Message will be displayed below later this month. However, some highlights regarding her focus for her term in office include:
Strengthen the scholarship program by increasing designated funds.
Adoption of a local elementary school to support with weekend meal service for students living below the poverty level.
Support homeless youth by working through the Covenant House in Washington DC.
Establish meaningful programs during our fellowship meetings that will allow BMWMWA members to relax and fellowship. Such programs may include having a meeting that includes spa activities, games, exercises for fitness, or other fun activities to ensure we remain strong Christian women working together to build our organization, serve the people of God, and support our husbands.
Join me in welcoming our 42nd President of the BMWMWA, President Dr. Marie Quick and her outstanding group of officers. We continue to build on the shoulders of past presidents and officers who have shaped this organization into the success we now have. We look forward to seeing what God has in store for us in the future as we continue to be "Faithful Women Serving and Uplifting the Kingdom of God". Be blessed!
