CELEBRATING OUR HONOREES 'LOVELY LADIES LEFT TO LIVE' DURING OUR 73RD INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION - PRESIDENT'S BREAKFAST.  SISTER DOROTHY DURHAM WAS HONORED FOR SERVING THE IAMWMW FOR 43 YEARS (1970) AND AS A WIDOW CONTINUES TO BE ACTIVELY INVOLVED WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION.  SISTER DOROTHY DURHAM WAS FIRST LADY AT MT SINAI BAPTIST CHURCH IN WASHINGTON DC.

CONGRATULATIONS TO SISTER CATHERINE WHEELER for being recognized as the MINISTER'S WIDOW WHO BEGAN HER JOURNEY WITH IAMWMW AS A MINISTER'S WIFE AND HAS CONTINUED HER ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT AS SHE TRANSITIONED TO BEING A WIDOW. SHE HAS BEEN A MEMBER SINCE 1977.  SISTER WHEELER WAS THE FIRST LADY OF VERMONT AVENUE BAPTIST CHURCH.

On Friday, June 28, 2013, our beloved Sister Viola Elizabeth Jefferson entered into our Father's Kingdom.  Sister Jefferson has been a member of the Baptist Ministers' Wives and Widows Association since 1967.  She will be funeralized on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Corinthian Baptist Church, Bishop James L. Martin, Sr., Officiating.

WILLIAMS WAS A MEMBER OF THE BAPTIST MINISTERS WIVES AND WIDOWS ASSOCIATION SINCE 1986; SHE TRANSITIONED ON MAY 23, 2013; FUNERALIZED ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 29, 2013 AT MATTHEWS MEMORIAL BAPTIST CHURCH, APOSTLE WILBERT L. WILLIAMS, PASTOR EMERITUS, EULOGIST. BISHOP MATTHEW HUDSON, PASTOR

BAPTIST MINISTERS' WIVES & WIDOWS ASSN OF WASHINGTON DC & VICINITY, INC., VISITED STODDARD BAPTIST NURSING HOME AS THEIR IAMWMW, INC. DAY OF SERVICE PROJECT - APRIL 2, 2013.

The Baptist Sisterhood provided an inspirational program, a monetary gift to the staff, and a gift bag to the Seniors at Stoddard Baptist.  The preached word was delivered by Minister Ernestine Jones; singing by Sister Bonita Ridley, and Liturgical Dancing by Sister Michelle Holbrook.  The Seniors were spirtually moved by the entire program.  One of the residences and a long time member of the Interdeminational MWMW Sister Lillie Green played the keyboard during our opening song "He Arose".  Baptist ladies attending were Sisters Patricia F. Brown (President), Amy Alexander (Past President), Jessie Fox, Bonita Ridley, Michelle Holbrook, Madlean Lewis, Mattie Lawson, Sherry Alexander, Julia Williams, and Gloria Williams.  Husbands attending were Pastor Aubrey Lewis (provided the closing prayer) and Pastor Winston Ridley.

ON MARCH 15, 2013 - SISTER MATTIE P. PATTERSON  OUR 19TH PRESIDENT OF THE BAPTIST MINISTERS' WIVES AND WIDOWS ASSOCIATION OF WASHINGTON, D.C. & VICINITY, INC., WAS FUNERALIZED ON MONDAY, MARCH 25, 2013 AT MT. CARMEL BAPTIST CHURCH, 901 THIRD STREET, N.W. WASHINGTON DC.

ANITA FORD ALLEN WAS THE 22nd PRESIDENT OF THE BAPTIST MINISTERS' WIVES AND WIDOWS ASSOCIATION OF WASHINGTON, D.C. & VICINITY, INC.  FUNERALIZED ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2013 UNDER THE AUSPICES OF METROPOLITAN BAPTIST CHURCH.  A GREAT HUMANITARIAN, EDUCATOR AND WORKER FOR CHRIST.

Bouey-Gayton Outreach Day and Baltimore/Washington Fellowship

 

Saturday, November 10, 2012 is designated as Bouey-Gayton Outreach Day to plan an outreach activity of interest to recruit new members, as well as plan an activity to encourage/maintain present members. 
 

BMWWA Mattie Lawson invited Pastor LLoyd Nolon Fox & First Lady Shelia Fox of Enon Baptist Church, Washington DC.  First Lady Fox is our prospective new member of the Baptist Ministers' Wives and Widows of Washington DC & Vicinity in recognition of Bouey-Gayton Outreach Day. Further, the Baptist ladies celebrated the day with the Baltimore, Maryland Sisterhood. God blessed us with warm sunshine, good food, great entertainment and loving fellowship.

 

 

CONGRATULATIONS!! Sister Theresa McCoy was one of the 2012 honorees at the first DCAMWMW 2012 STILETTO AWARD BANQUET on October 6, 2012. Banquet was held at the Southern Friendship Missionary Baptist Church Event Center.

IAMWMW, INC. DAY OF SERVICE (PRESIDENT GLOVER'S INITIATIVE FOR HONORING OUR FOUNDER, ELIZABETH COLES BOUEY) - SUPPORTING THE EDGEWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH (WASHINGTON, DC WARD 7) BREAD OF LIFE FOOD PANTRY.

The Baptist Ministers' Wives and Widows Association of Washington, DC & Vicinity, Inc., honored our founder, Elizabeth Coles Bouey by contributing a variety of fruit, meat and vegetables can goods in support of stocking the pantry shelves at the Edgewood Baptist Church in Southeast Washington DC (Rev Frankey Grayton, Pastor).  Every week Deaconess Lanier and her committee serve the southeast community with fresh produce and other nutritious food. Sisters: Mrs. Dorothy Durham (Mt. Sinai Baptist Church), Mrs. Cora Jackson (Gethsemane Baptist Church) and  Mrs. Pat Brown (Christian Love Baptist Church) were among those who donated time to support our International President Glover's theme "Let's Stop Hunger in Our Community".  Event day April 17, 2012.

First Vice President Mary Wilson welcomes First Lady Karen Blanchard of the Historic Berean Baptist Church (Rev. Kenneth V. Blanchard is the Pastor) to our organization.  

First Lady Talita Grayton of Edgewood Baptist Church (Rev Frankey Grayton, Pastor) was welcomed into the Baptist Ministers' Wives & Widows Assoc at our January 2012 meeting. The Lord is blessing our organization with beautiful young willing workers.



 The Baptist Ministers' Wives and Widows Assoc of Wash DC & Vicinity was established some 78 years ago to strengthen the bond of friendship among all ministers' wives. As we grow stronger in our Christian principles, we are able to serve our communities showing our love for those who are less fortunate than we are.  As one past president stated "its time to think outside the box".  So here we are making a difference in our community as we celebrate the Bouey/Gayton Outreach Day.  We presented a check in the amount of $200.00 to the Capital Area Food Bank in support of their efforts to fight hunger in our community.

Sister Rosella Reid was inducted in the International Ministers’ Wives Hall of Fame in Richmond, VA., on 2011 Founder’s Day Week-End, December 2-3, 2011. She is well deserving of all recognitions.



 

 

 

Baptist Ministers’ Wives and Widows of Wash., DC and Vicinity received the 2011 Financial Award as the Local Organization with the Highest Contribution to Founder’s Day.



Our Beloved Sister, Bernies S. Green went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 30, 2011. She was a very dedicated member of the Baptist Ministers' Wives and Widows Assn, Inc. Services was held at the East Friendship Baptist Church on Thursday, December 8, 2011.  Rev. Melvin M. Maxwell, Senior Pastor

 

 

 

 Sister Delores Waldo was honored during an appreciation service titled “This is Your Life” by hundreds of family members, close friends and church members on November 27th 2011. She has a beautiful spirit.
