In 1933, Sister Alberta B. Randolph, wife of Reverend J. Harvey Randolph, B.D., D.D., founded the Baptist Ministers' Wives and Widows Association of Washington DC and Vicinity, Incorporated organization. She saw a need for ministers wives to come together and fellowship with one another as they encouraged and supported each other in their work, with their husbands, for the Lord.
Sister Randolph ws a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Washington DC where she worked with unstinted zealousness. She organized the Junior Choir - now called the Pentecostal Choir, seved as organist at Mount Moriah for various choirs and church services, and was the organizer and President of the Dorcas Missionary Society. She also initiated the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts movement, served for a number of years as Superintendent of the Sunday School, and was a true helpmate to her husband in his ministry at Mount Moriah.
Sister Randolph's untimely death on October 23, 1954 was keenly felt by all who knew her. Yet her memory remains in our hearts for the fruits of her labor are ripening daily in the lives she touched.
"May the work I've done speak for me; may the service I give speak for me."
